Description

We play weekly tournaments of No Limit Texas Hold'em poker for £2/£3 buy-in a game. We also play a large buy-in tournament at the end of each term for up to £20 buy-in.

 

We welcome all abilities of player, so even if you have never played before - come down and give it a go, you may find that you're a natural!

Where They Train / Meet

This year, we will hopefully be playing our games on Frenchay. We will be keeping a leader board of the top players - the best of which will go through to the Final Table event at the end of the year and play for prizes.

• History of Texas Hold-em

Texa's Hold-em is one of the most fastest, popular and lowest limit poker games that you can play. There is no exact information on when and where the game was first played, but it is thought (according to legend) the earliest game was played in Robstown, Texas in the early 1900s. It arrived in Dallas in 1925. It's introduction to Las Vegas came through a group of Texan gamblers and card players including Crandall Addington, Doyle Brunson, and Amarillo Slim. The game was later introduced to Europe by bookmakers Terry Rogers and Liam "The Gentleman" Flood. It was in the first decade of the 21st Century, that the game really boomed thanks to a surge in popularity from the United States and it's popularity in Europe continues to rise with more tournaments and the accessibility of the game through internet tournaments.
