What's all the buzz around Bioblitz?
Bioblitz is all about volunteers, scientists, naturalists, wildlife enthusiasts, school groups, students and members of the public working together to find as many different species as possible within the a natural area – all whilst racing against the clock!
The vinspired students programme is collaborating with Bristol Natural History Consortium, who are leading a partnership of organisations around the country, to run the National Bioblitz campaign. Together we will be creating over 1000 short term and part time volunteer opportunities for undergraduate and post graduates that will help develop both their own skills and their communities.
There has already been lots of excitement surrounding Bioblitz, including an article featured in the Guardian; http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/mar/22/bioblitz-campaign-record-britain-wildlife, and with over 14 events happening across the UK, there are still lots of opportunities for your students to get involved.
You can find out more about Bioblitz events taking place in your local area and the type of volunteer roles available at http://www.bnhc.org.uk/home/bioblitz/national-bioblitz.html.
To register your interest contact National Bioblitz Programme Manager, Harriet Martin, at harriet@bnhc.org.uk.
