Freshers Assistant (Working towards the Freshers Coordinator position in 2011)

Location: Frenchay Campus, Bristol (may be expected to work on other campuses or city centre)

Duties: By assisting the Freshers Coordinator this year, the successful candidate will work towards holding the Freshers Coordinator position in 2011. The Freshers Assistant will help (and have an input in) planning, promoting, organising and implementing some of the biggest Freshers events in the UK. Events concerned will be predominantly held on Frenchay Campus but the Freshers Assistant will also be supporting events on other campuses. This post will grow in responsibility over the summer and the knowledge gained will develop the successful candidate into the Freshers Co-ordinator role in 2011. This will involve leading the Freshers project and training a new Freshers Assistant.

Skills: Candidates must be excellent organisers, punctual and carry a professional attitude. Creativity is key, and where the position will be supervised, a strong sense of initiative is important.

Experience: Event experience is not essential but desirable. Candidates must be able to show experience in offering excellent customer service and teamwork in previous employment.

Conditions: Candidates must be willing to lead the Freshers in 2011 and therefore a student in Academic Year 2010/2011.

Hours: 22.5 p/w (over summer); 40 p/w (Freshers Fortnight); 20 p/w (Post-Freshers Fortnight)

Duration: 07/06/10 -> 10/10/10

Rate: £6.43 p/h inc. holiday pay
