Official Statement from UWE Students' Union regarding UCU Strike Action on the 10th February

Tags:  UWE

As you may be aware on the 10th February members of UWE UCU will be going on strike.

UCU-strike

At the Students’ Union AGM in November a motion to support any strike action by UCU fell and as such UWESU does not support this action.

The position of the Students’ Union is to work in the best interests of our members and ensure that any action taken by UCU members does not have a detrimental impact on the day to day lectures and seminars that our members pay for through tuition fees. Our central concern is that this dispute has come at a time of high activity with students getting stuck into their dissertations and working towards final year exams.

If strike action continues then the Students’ Union will put pressure anywhere necessary to defend our members’ right to their Education. We are currently in dialogue with both the UCU and the University and we will strive to achieve a positive outcome for our members to protect their student experience.

For more information on the strike action you can read official statements from the University and from UCU below.
