Oxfam Summer Volunteering
Be the change you want to see in the world! Recruiting now for School Speakers and Oxfam Change volunteers.
Oxfam School Speakers
Apply by Monday 31st May
Would you like to share your passion for Oxfam’s work with young people across the South West? Do you have the skills to engage and inspire young people to take action?
We are currently recruiting volunteers to deliver at least one presentation per month in a local school or youth group for one year. We need new speakers based across the South West and are particularly looking for people who live in Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
Working with young people is highly rewarding. Participation in the programme helps develop speakers’ communication and presentation skills and provides an exciting opportunity to represent Oxfam’s work to the youth and schools audience.
Application forms and further information are available on the following website http://www.oxfam.org.uk/get_involved/volunteer/latest.html#vos . If you have any queries about the role please get in touch with Jennifer Martin on 0117 9166475 jmartin@oxfam.org.uk. The closing date for applications is Monday 31st May and successful applicants will attend training in July 2010.
Campaign for change with Oxfam!
Are you passionate about finding lasting solutions to poverty and injustice? You could join the 1, 000 committed activists who have campaigned with Oxfam in the UK to make a difference.
If you're at a loss for things to do this summer, Oxfam South West could be your solution! We need enthusiastic, passionate individuals who want to campaign for change, and encourage their fellow students to do the same!
There are loads of events taking place in Bristol this summer that student campaigners can get involved with. From music events to festivals, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy the summer events whilst campaigning with Oxfam.
If you're excited about the World Cup but want to do more than just hope England don't go out on penalties, why not join Oxfam as we embark on our World Cup campaign - 'Don't Drop the Ball on Aid'. Football connects people all around the world, and this year Oxfam is looking to turn all of that passion into something genuinely world-changing. Rich governments are breaking their promises on poverty, so we are collecting video keepy-uppys to remind world leaders how important aid is to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Record your own keepy-uppy video and upload it onto the Oxfam website to pledge your support, or go one step further and join us as we encourage the football fans of Bristol do their own keepy-uppys for Oxfam. Check out the keepy-uppys already online now! www.oxfam.org.uk/dontdropaid
If you feel inspired, and are keen to get involved now, or next term, please email sdaly@oxfam.org.uk. We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who would be keen to help out at University Fresher’s Fairs.
Be the change you wish to see in the world!
Any questions about these opportunities email your Volunteer Support Officer: helen.seacombe@uwe.ac.uk
